Urology is the specialism that deals with the abnormalities, disorders and diseases of the urinary tract in man and woman and the genital organ of the man and to some extent that of the woman. Organs that fall under urology are; • the kidneys • ureters • bladder • urethra • male organs; penis, the scrotum with, among other things, the testes and the prostate. Urology treats a multitude of completely different diseases and problems such as kidney stones, prostatic hypertrophy, prostate cancer, impotence and sexually transmitted diseases; vasectomy is also mainly performed by urologists. For treatment, the urologist uses both medical, instructive and surgical therapies and physiotherapeutic therapy. The Urology department works closely together with the other departments in Acibadem International Medical Center such as internal medicine and cardiology and in particular for the treatment of functional disorders of the pelvic floor with Gynecology. The Department of Urology of Acibadem focuses mainly on functional, endoscopic and reconstructive urology and is an Expert Center for electrostimulation by means of neuromodulation. Bladder function disorders such as incontinence and difficult urination are analyzed and treated. Operations are also currently being performed in patients whose bladder can no longer be emptied and are only eligible for long-term catheter use. These patients are treated and then operated after which the mictions can start again.
