My first experience with medicine was developed during my pre-med classes at a Liberal Arts University in the MidWest in the USA through a Fullbright scholarship. After this year I was admitted to medical school in Utrecht (UMCU). During my last year I was accepted for a small year at a research position in Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, USA. After this I was accepted for 4 years into a Ph.D. position in Utrecht Medical Center on bone tissue engineering. Subsequently my training as an orthopedic surgeon started. In 2009 I started a spine fellowship with prof. Cumhur Oner in UMCU. In 2010 I achieved a staff position in Diakonessenhuis Utrecht. My work was initially focused on spine surgery and trauma. I became the deputy director for the residents training program. In the meantime I have specialized into the area of mainly spine surgery. With joy I look forward to start as director of the spine division of Acibadem Amsterdam. (Spine Center Amsterdam)
