Mike Abu Saris studied medicine in Leiden and completed his specialization as a neurosurgeon in Germany in 2006. Initially, he was primarily focused on cranial oncology (brain tumors), particularly awake craniotomy (brain surgeries on awake patients). Later, his interest shifted to spine surgery, and over the years, this gradually replaced cranial surgery. Starting from 2023, he is fully devoted to spine surgery. The complexity of spine surgery, the development of new techniques, and ongoing innovations are what attract him the most. However, the most rewarding aspect of his profession is the interaction with people seeking help or having questions about their health. He sees the challenge in collaborating with patients to explore available options and determine the most suitable treatment.
