After studying medicine in Groningen, Dr. Lykele Beimers trained as an orthopedic surgeon at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, Hilversum Hospital and the Slotervaart Hospital in Amsterdam. He obtained his PhD in 2012 with his thesis on wear and the associated treatment of the lower hock (supervisor: Prof. Dr. C.N. van Dijk). After his training, he worked for a year as a surgical fellow at shoulder specialist Prof. dr. Murrell in Sydney, Australia. When he returned to the Netherlands, he worked until 2019 as a staff member in the orthopedics department of the MC Slotervaart Hospital in Amsterdam. He is now part of the team of orthopedic surgeons at the Acibadem IMC. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder complaints, including arthroscopic interventions (the ‘keyhole surgery’) with shoulder problems as a result of tendon injuries, lab injuries and instability problems. In addition, he places shoulder prostheses, including the inverted variant.
