Raised and educated in Ghent, Flanders, I have been living and working in the Netherlands since 2000. I am a passionate all-round gynecologist with a special fondness, knowledge and expertise in pelvic floor care. For many, this subject is sensitive. After all, it concerns the most intimate and vulnerable region of the woman. This is precisely what makes the patient-doctor relationship so fascinating and challenging. My ambition is to put each patient at ease by listening, and by providing – in an open and friendly atmosphere – expert help with her request for help. Sometimes a complex request for help requires a multidisciplinary approach. It is good that this is easily possible in ACIBADEM with short lines to other specialties (the urologist, the MDL doctor). Through clear and direct communication the patient succeeds – together with the gynecologist – in making a choice in her treatment plan. Often the treatment is conservative. Thus, the use of a supportive device such as a pessary, and pelvic physical therapy can alleviate the symptoms. It is beautiful to see a person overcome the ailment on her own, just by adapting her lifestyle.
Fortunately, if conservative treatment does not produce the desired result, surgery offers a quick, functional and constructive solution.
