Harald de Man studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam, followed by his training Orthopedics at the AMC and in Liestal / Basel (Switzerland). After this he started his career as a prosthesiology fellow at the SMK (Nijmegen) and worked there until 2012 as a staff member where he was co-founder of the orthopedic department responsible for the prevention and treatment of orthopedic infections. In 2009 he obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam on research into the total hip prosthesis. His specific area of attention is the treatment of hip and knee wear. He performs operations with a position change for younger people with knee osteoarthritis, while the joint can be spared (knee osteotomy) and he also performs treatments for patients with kneecap complaints. For him, quality, patient-oriented service and consultation with the patient about the treatment are central to the treatment. He attaches great importance to information about the expectations of an operation and the possible complications, so that the patient can make the best assessment of whether or not to operate.
