Since 2008, I have been working as a pulmonologist. I studied Medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and completed my pulmonology training in Maastricht. The field of respiratory diseases encompasses a wide variety of conditions, which makes the specialty very interesting. We treat, among others, infections, asthma, smoking-related problems, sleep disorders, and malignant diseases. In my work, I find it important to see the patient behind the disease. I place great value on a strong doctor-patient relationship, in which communication and shared decision-making are central.
