Dr. J. Kitzen has been working as an orthopedic spine surgeon at Maasstad Hospital since 2022 and has also been affiliated with Acibadem since 2026.
He studied Medicine in Maastricht and obtained his medical degree in 2011. During his orthopedic surgery residency, he worked at several institutions, including Maastricht University Medical Center+ (MUMC+) and Máxima Medical Center in Eindhoven. After completing his training in 2020, he spent one year as a fellow in traumatology and arthroplasty at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. In addition, Dr. Kitzen specialized in both the surgical and conservative treatment of spinal disorders at Utrecht University Medical Center and Sint-Trudo Hospital in Sint-Truiden. In 2020, he obtained his PhD with a dissertation entitled “Long-Term Follow-Up of Total Disc Replacement.”
In addition to his clinical and scientific activities, he is involved in orthopedic education for physiotherapists and general practitioner trainees.
