Jasper studied medicine at Utrecht University and quickly got interested in musculoskeletal disorders and orthopedic surgery. His first clinical research was done during his master thesis, and awoke his interest for science. After finishing his medicine study, Jasper got accepted as a PhD student and further developed his skills as a scientist from 2010 to 2013. In January 2014 Jasper started his residency for orthopedic surgeon in the ROGO Rotterdam (Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam and Elisabeth – Tweesteden Hospital, Tilburg) and he finished his residency in June 2020. During his training, Jasper became especially interested in spinal disorders and therefore did an extracurricular internship spinal surgery in the University Medical Center Utrecht at the ending of his residency period. After completing his residency, Jasper worked as a fellow spinal surgery (under supervision of Professor Cumhur Öner) and as orthopedic surgeon in spinal and general orthopedics. However, because of his special interest in spinal surgery, form September 2021 onwards he completely focuses on spinal surgery in the University Medical Center Utrecht and form October 2021 also in Acibadem (Spine Center Amsterdam).
